Located at the top of the grade, West Cuesta Ridge is the spot to be to see the sunset. This spot has just reopened in the past few years and has a windy dirt car trail that leads up to a long road on the top of the ridge. This spot is known for its mountain biking trails, views all as far out as seeing Morro Rock and its ability to be a great running trail. The campground on the top of it is a little ways down the road and has no fee to camp there. No fires are permitted in this area of Los Padres National Forest due to the high fire risk in California. The views of all the mountains surrounding San Luis Obispo County are quite astounding and helps remind visitors of how many other great spots there are to explore on the Central Coast.
